snubfin_dolphins_B2A0702This Flatback turtle (Natator despressus) was spotted out in the middle of Roebuck Bay with a transmitter attached but covered in algal growth.   The tag was possibly attached in the Pilbara and the animal appeared sluggish and not particularly healthy.  The turtle was probably feeding the on the brown  jellies that are abundant at the moment.  Flatbacks are the only species endemic to northern Australia.A Flatback turtle (Natator depressus) with a transmitter attached in Roebuck Bay
